ESTIMATOR METHODOLOGY / business-screening-v2.0
A range you can inspect.
An initial screening range from team size, time in business, and revenue. Actual earnings are determined after reviewing the data and agreed uses.
Three inputs, then a conversation
The estimate uses full-time employees, founding year, and annual revenue. Industry and contact details support the follow-up; they do not change the number. No data inventory, files, volume counts, or permissions questionnaire is required to start.
Business scale is a proxy for the amount of operational history that may exist. It does not establish that data is available, useful, or permitted for licensing.
The calculation
The anchor is an upper range of $58,000 for a business with 25 employees, 21 years of history, and $1M–$10M revenue.
Upper = $58,000 × ((employees + 1) / 26)^0.2 × (effective years / 21)^0.4 × revenue factorEffective years run from 1 to 25. The fractional exponents keep size and age from increasing the range linearly. The upper range is limited to $500–$2,000,000 and rounded to the nearest $500. The lower range is 70% of that rounded upper range, rounded again to $500.
| Annual revenue | Factor |
|---|---|
| Pre-revenue | 0.414 |
| $0–$1M | 0.750 |
| $1M–$10M | 1.000 |
| $10M–$50M | 1.900 |
| $50M–$200M | 3.276 |
| $200M+ | 5.172 |
| Prefer not to say | 1.000 |
Choosing “Prefer not to say” uses the neutral factor. A business founded this year uses one year of history. These are planning conventions, not verified measurements.
Worked examples
These examples apply the calculation above to three business profiles.
| Employees | Founded | Annual revenue | Indicative range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 2020 | $0–$1M | $13,500–$19,500 |
| 25 | 2005 | $1M–$10M | $40,500–$58,000 |
| 100 | 1990 | $10M–$50M | $108,500–$155,000 |
How confident is the estimate?
The calculation is consistent and tested. Its assumptions remain provisional and have not yet been validated against completed licensing transactions.
This is a planning range for an initial data license. It is not a buyer offer, annual income estimate, or promised payout. Actual earnings depend on the data review, buyer demand, and agreed terms.
What we review together
Available data sources, usable volume, quality, uniqueness, buyer demand, ownership, confidentiality, exclusions, and license terms. Your Data Trust sets the boundaries: what may be commercialized and what remains available for your own long-term applications.
The range assumes a licensable opportunity may exist. If review finds no approved, useful data or buyer demand, the realizable licensing value may be zero.
Your information and the next step
Your name, business contact details, answers, estimate, and model version are saved privately for this inquiry. Continuing requests a follow-up from Physic; it does not subscribe you to a newsletter or grant a data license.
The inquiry is forwarded to team@physic.io through our email service, FormSubmit. Your email is the reply-to address. FormSubmit processes the submission for delivery and retains a submission archive for 30 days. The company record uses the domain of the business website you provide.
The call step uses Physic’s connected booking page when available. You can also email Physic to arrange a call. No time slot is reserved by submitting the estimate.
